I'm an organizerAbout Montreal (.com
AcroYoga Montreal describes a technically sound, safe, creative practice with social-justice context. The site offers teacher training, events, classes, teacher listings, community resources, a code of conduct, and a blog.
History and approach
Founded by Jessie Goldberg and Eugene Poku, AcroYoga Montreal brings together yoga, acrobatics, therapeutic work and creative exploration. Its community resources include a code of conduct and opportunities for shared practice.
Level 1 curriculum
The published 104-hour Level 1 curriculum combines technique, yoga analysis, flow, teaching practice, creative process and hand balancing. It also includes anatomy, injury prevention, first aid, consent, community guidelines, games, assessment, jams, core stability, sequencing, meditation, dance, presentation and marketing. Hours may vary with the group.
Level 2 and follow-up
Level 2 is a 104-hour pathway covering advanced technique, innovation, leadership, personal vocabulary, teaching, ethics, trauma tools, assessment and communication. Certification includes follow-up within twelve months: an original three-to-five-minute flow and a community outreach project, such as starting a jam or mentoring.
Level 1 requirements
Level 1 applicants need an ongoing AcroYoga and yoga practice, comfort upside down, a tripod headstand, a wall handstand and a steady plank. They should be comfortable basing, flying and spotting foundational balances. Applications include a requirements video. Level 2 requires Level 1 with Eugene and Jessie.
