Start a conversation with context

Say who you are and why you are writing. Mention the event, community, article or travel plan that connects you. Ask a clear question and give the other person time to answer. Keep group messages relevant to the group's purpose.

Rules for respectful conversation

  • Respect a no, a request to stop and a lack of response. Do not pressure someone to continue.
  • Do not send harassment, threats, discriminatory abuse or unwanted sexual messages.
  • Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent an offer or send scams and repetitive promotion.
  • Ask before sharing someone else's contact details, screenshots, private messages or identifiable photos.
  • Disagree with ideas without attacking the person. If a discussion becomes heated, pause it.

Keep arrangements explicit

For a practice, stay or shared journey, agree on dates, expectations, costs and changes in the conversation. Do not assume a like, group membership or a friendly message is a booking or a commitment. Avoid sending passwords, payment credentials or unnecessary identity documents in chat.

When something goes wrong

Stop the exchange if you feel uncomfortable. Contact the project with the relevant conversation context and a concise account of what happened; share sensitive evidence privately rather than posting it in a group. The website is not an emergency response channel.

These are community participation guidelines. The website's terms also apply. They do not imply that every conversation is reviewed or that a particular moderation response is guaranteed.
